Faith-Based Training and Support
Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Awareness
Faith-Based Training and Support
For faith leaders in Prince George’s County and Border communities, CAFY acts as a member of a professional team facilitating education and producing open a dialogue about domestic violence, dating, sexual violence and family violence within the Faith-Based Community. Our culturally relevant training teaches faith leaders and the congregants to:
- identify signs of abuse,
- understand the challenges and myths about abuse,
- support and guide congregants experiencing or witnessing abuse,
- make appropriate referrals to and build partnerships with community organizations that can help, and
- assist in developing a road map to help those who come to them for support.
Community based Abuse Intervention and Learning
Through CAFY collaborations to train and our community forums, attendees learn intervention strategies, practices and resources needed to keep survivors safe. Our focus is to:
- offer education and prevention strategies target the diverse community, particularly African-Americans and Hispanics highlighting culturally-specific issues unique to victims of domestic, family and sexual violence,
- build the community’s capacity to offer specific support for survivors of domestic, family and sexual assault, and
- expand the awareness and trust of local resources to address this community challenge.
CAFY believes that together we can make our community, families, and youth #STRONGERNOW!
